Cottages on Grove Powerpoint Presentation
Cottages on Grove is where you find open arms and caring hearts. It is dedicated to the memory of Virginia Kirk Landstrom. Virginia became part of the foster care system at the age of 5, when her parents were killed in an auto accident. She was moved from Oregon to Illinois to live with distant relatives. The support checks stopped when she was eighteen and she became homeless. Luckily, she found a job in a law firm, but her wages only covered the room she rented with little left for food or living expenses. An older employee at her firm stepped in and gave her the assistance she needed to survive. It was the hand up that she needed to get on her feet and ultimately have a full and successful life. This was in the early 1930's, and since then not much has changed in our foster care system. So many young people who exit foster care or who are homeless are still left with no guidance or assistance. At Forward Paths, our goal is to share with them the compassion that Virginia was once shown. Through the Cottages on Grove her legacy lives on. Forward Paths is proud to honor her memory.
